Collections Specialist
Pasadena, CA Temporary $20.00 - $24.00/hr Onsite

Job Description

Established organization is seeking a Collections Specialist on a temporary basis for approximately 3-6 months in the greater Glendale, CA area. Pay ranges from $20-24 DOE.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact members by phone, email, and letter regarding delinquent consumer loan and credit card accounts
  • Work with members to understand their financial situation and recommend appropriate repayment solutions
  • Negotiate payment arrangements in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements
  • Document all member interactions and collection activities accurately within core systems
  • Monitor assigned accounts and follow up on payment commitments
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including FDCPA and credit union policies
  • Escalate complex or high-risk accounts to management as needed
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support overall loan servicing and risk mitigation efforts

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in finance, business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of collections experience, preferably within a credit union or financial institution
  • Knowledge of consumer lending, loan servicing, and collections best practices
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a member-first mindset
  • Ability to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Proficiency with computer systems, loan servicing platforms, and Microsoft Office
  • Accurate data entry and strong attention to detail
